With few and simple means older crop sprayers can be updated to meet the requirements of the new rules on the protection against point pollution.

This says leisure farmer Lars Jensen, who is chief technical officer at the Danish Hydraulic and transmission business Dani-tech A/S.

Together with Dani-Tech's suppliers, he has developed a simple kit that can be used to update all types of field sprayers.

- I thought an alternative was missing to having to invest in a new crop sprayers when the old one is still functional. So I acquaint myself into what is actually meant for, so my old spray could respect the new rules, "says Lars Jensen.

The conclusion was that the main features, a clean water tank, a chemical mixer, a flow meter and a washdownkit where cleaning must be carried out in the field - and various hoses, fittings, spray nozzles and multi-way taps.

- During the process, we in Dani-tech agreed that I might not be the only ones facing this problem right now. Therefore we decided to develop and purchase equipment that can be adapted to the vast majority of crop sprayers. It is ready in our stock now, so it's just to start, when the spraying of this autumn is over, says Lars Jensen.

Cooperation with machine dealers

Dani-tech, which already has a collaboration with machine dealers across the country, will distribute the update-set through machine dealers, which may also be helpful with the installation.
The price for an update varies depending on which option you want, but Lars Jensen says that it will be around 10,000 to 20,000 kroner, excluding installation.

When the new rules on the protection against point pollution enters into force on 8th April 2010, it means that hundreds of crop sprayers will have to stand and gather dust over the country - even if they are well maintained and functioning and have many years in them yet. An additional annoyance in these times for the farmers who must ramming an additional investment of well over 100.000,- to a new field spray up of arable land.

The Dani-tech group is a trading and manufacturing company in the sale of hydraulic and transmission components and is Denmark's largest supplier of hydraulic pumping stations.

The Dani-tech group employs 85 employees in Denmark and is headquartered in Haderslev Business Park. In addition, Dani-tech subsidiaries in Netherlands and Sweden.
